Streets, Mostly Buildings
I tend to notice the edges of buildings first: rooflines, windows, drainpipes, and the hard shadows between them.
Most of my street photographs do not contain much street action. I keep pointing the camera at the quieter parts instead: the gap between two buildings, a roof bending into the sky, cables crossing a row of balconies, or one hard shadow cutting a wall in half.
I like the small decisions that make an ordinary building feel particular. Where the light lands matters. So do the drainpipes, crooked lines, odd colours, and bits of wear that a cleaner photograph might leave out.
